Toshiba Satellite 1135-S155,
A15-S127 Notebook Review

Reviewer Comments on the Toshiba Satellite 1135-S155, A15-S127 Notebooks

This notebook had all the features we like to see on this class of notebook, 2 GHz processor, 512 MB main system RAM (expandable to 1 GB), 40 GB hard drive, 15 inch TFT screen, USB 2.0 ports, CD-RW/DVD combo drive, modem and LAN connector, and it weighed less than 7 pounds.
(See page 1 of this article for a full explanation of these features.)

The 512 MB DDR RAM included on this notebook is a big plus, as is the 40 GB hard drive, the 400 MHz system bus, and the 15 inch screen.

It can seamlessly play DVD movies, and it does a good job running Internet and business software. As it has a slow 3D processor, do not expect it to run newer 3D games efficiently.

Overall this notebook is a good choice in the $1,000 notebook category.

Important Note. Toshiba has recently replaced the Satellite 1135-S155 with the Satellite A15-S127 which comes with Windows XP Home and the Satellite A15-S128 which comes with Windows XP Pro.
All the features are still the same except the notebook now weighs 6.1 lbs. (Instead of 6.17 lbs.).
Toshiba is currently selling the new A15 notebooks with 30 GB hard drives (instead of 40 GB) and 256 MB of main system RAM instead of 512 MB.
The good news is that the new A15 notebooks seem to be in good supply and can still be purchased for less than $1,000.

For additional notebooks that are good choices in the $1,000 notebook category, see our Sunday Shopping Watch articles in our InfoHQ Daily Computer News page, and see our Best Selling Laptops and Notebooks page.
